Greetings from Galveston, where the Certified Tourism Ambassadors at Soar Vacation Rental Services just returned from the 2019 Tourism Summit with plenty of good news to report about the island and your potential as a short-term vacation rental owner:

  • The most recent summer season (2018) was another record breaker for tourism on the island, with year-over-year increases in hotel occupancy tax collection.
  • Hotel occupancy tax collection increased 13% in 2018, with 27% of fees coming from vacation rentals.
  • Galveston led the state in hotel average daily rate figures, with an average of nearly $160 per night.
  • While the island boasts an ever-growing number of reasons to visit, our beaches remain the top attraction, with beach park fees nearly doubling from $1.3 million in 2013 to $2.5 million in 2018.
  • According to Redfin.com, Galveston home sales are up 11% over last year.
